Bio-diesel made from food in oil-rich UAEClose

The Middle East is a region where cars and truck is king and fuel is cheap, typically leaving little reward to find more environmentally-friendly ways of moving.

But this year, as demonstrations across the Middle East have pushed up the cost of oil, the concern of discovering alternative sources of fuel has actually entered sharp focus.

In an area that has one of the greatest carbon footprints on the planet, one organization is making the most of the growing pressure to find to oil. It's established the Middle East's very first scheme to recycle cooking oil into biodiesel. It's proving rewarding too, already their client-list includes McDonald's.

Philip Hampsheir reports from Dubai.
